New Telepathic Friends take their name from a spin on a quote
by electronic music pioneer Bruce Haack. Although NTF sound nothing
like his experimental electronica, their music radiates a similar
joy in finding the unexpected in the familiar.
Having gigged and toured in previous projects on both coasts,
Jen Faith (electric bass & vocals), Jeremy Miller (electric
guitar) and Todd Renschler (drums & backing vocals) met in
San Francisco in 2003. Their exceptional songwriting is the result
of consistent collaboration between all members. The sweet, thoughtful
vocals of Jen Faith, blended with the brightly colored yet sensibly
grounded electric guitar sounds of Jeremy Miller, are given form
and cadence by the well patterned drum performance of Todd Renschler.
The strong musicianship and chemistry among these three is evident
especially in their live performances.
Jen Faith has earned a loyal following over the last five years
by performing her solo acoustic music at dozens of venues throughout
the bay area. Jeremy Miller's music background comes most heavily
from the punk/emo scene of turn of the century San Diego, where
he played in bands such as Julia and Purl. Todd Renschler started
playing music in the D.C. post punk scene, and has extensive recording
experience with projects in Minneapolis, Portland and the Bay
Area.
The combination has been called a warm, unhurried sound accented
with bright guitar and distinctive vocals. New Telepathic Friends
began performing live in the Summer of 2004 and have completed
a seven song recording at Last Stop Records which is available
on CD.
